On a Mission to Empower Entrepreneurs

PNE's Melissa Middleton is passionate about helping individuals launch their own businesses. Over the past month, Mel has been on a whirlwind tour across the North East, inspiring the region's entrepreneurs! 

From Blaydon to Sunderland, Melissa has been on an Enterprise road trip to spread the word about what opportunities are available to those looking to start their own business. This included touring areas of Gateshead to support high-street businesses, delivering workshops in Sunderland and South Tyneside and presenting to over 4,000 young people at an Inspiring Enterprise event in Newcastle.

In her presentation, Mel emphasised the abundance of support available to individuals who aspire to launch their own ventures. She provided an overview of the challenges and rewards that come with entrepreneurship, as well as the necessary steps to transform a business idea into a successful reality. Mel also highlighted the valuable resources that are accessible to young, aspiring entrepreneurs, including support from universities and local enterprise agencies.

In her travels, Mel has also been highlighting the fantastic array of support available from PNE. This included programmes like Social Enterprise Boost, Business with Purpose and Social Enterprise Gateshead, which support organisations and entrepreneurs who are making a positive impact in our communities and Digitising Our Town Centres, which help Gateshead high street businesses.
